What does a rego inspection include?
A rego (roadworthy) inspection checks all major safety components of your vehicle, including brakes, tyres, lights, suspension, steering, exhaust, windscreen, mirrors, and fluid leaks. It ensures the vehicle meets Northern Territory road safety standards and is safe to operate on public roads.
Do all vehicles need a rego inspection in NT?
Not always. Rego inspections in the NT are typically required for interstate vehicle transfers, expired registrations, heavy vehicle registrations, and specific commercial uses. Light vehicles renewing on time often don’t need an inspection, but it’s always best to check with MVR or your mechanic.
